This thermometer has been carefully developed for accurate, safe, and fast human bodytemperature measurements via the ear and forehead. It has also been similarly validatedfor object temperature measurements. This thermometer uses an offset when taking forehead and ear measurements so that thereading reflects the body’s core temperature. When used in accordance to the user’s manual, this thermometer can be easily maintained. Please note that the ear is an ideal site for taking a body temperature measurement. This isbecause body temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus, which shares the same bloodsupply as the tympanic (ear) membrane. The thermometer is an ear canal IR thermometer. The forehead temperature is obtainedbased onthe site offset between the ear and the forehead, and the forehead temperatureis only used as a reference.
HOW TO MEASURE FOREHEAD TEMPERATURE
Put on the forehead adaptor before use. Place the thermometer in your hand as shown on the right, with your thumb on the button.
Make sure the probe is clean before measuring.
Hold the thermometer so that the forehead adaptor is flush with the center of the forehead, midway between eyebrow and hairline. Once the device is touching the forehead as indicated, hold the thermometer steady and press to start the measurement.
Keep the thermometer flat until you hear the temperature voice announce the completed reading (if the talking feature is turned on), or until you hear a beep. The back-light will also light up according to the temperature reading. When the measurement is complete, the thermometer may be removed from the head.
Read the temperature on the display.
HOW TO MEASURE EAR TEMPERATURE
Remove the forehead adaptor before use. Place the thermometer in your hand as shown with your thumb or forefinger on the button.

Insert the probe carefully into the ear canal.
Hold the thermometer so that the probe is going straight into the ear toward the eardrum. It is important that the probe sensor faces the eardrum.
Hold the outer ear and gently pull it toward the rear of the head to straighten the ear canal. Always insert the thermometer into the same ear with the same direction and depth.
Press the to start the measurement. Keep the probe still until you hear the temperature voice announce the completed reading (if the talking feature is turned on), or until you hear a beep. The back-light will also light up according to the temperature reading.
When the measurement is complete, the thermometer may be removed from the ear. The LCD will flash for about 6 seconds. You can measure again after the ear sign stops flashing.
